Do you ever feel like life is a dark abyss, just threatening to swallow you whole? An overpowering emptiness that thrives on snuffing any hope or joy? I know we all go through valleys, that Jesus walks with us and that He'll help us to climb out...but most often my human nature revels in the gloominess for a little while. Is it just me? I think sometimes it takes too much energy to fight the darkness, so I succumb until I feel ready to make the effort. I need to retreat somewhere quiet to soothe my spirit...to feign strength and bravery. To feed my soul with music and literature until I regain my composure and feel calm enough to go on.
Sometimes it just helps to think "out loud" when sorting through the rabbit trails of the human psyche!
What feeds and soothes your soul? Where do you find peace from the busyness of the world?

I understand completely what you are saying. It is most certainly NOT just you.
Quiet soothes my soul. With 3 kids and a pastor husband that can be hard to come by but sometimes I just HAVE to have it. Also wonderful lilting music. Music that is peaceful and swaying.
And definitely good literature.
I hear you folks are moving... how's it going?
Yes, it's not just you.
I usually like to go for a walk if I can...alone. The river valley is nice! ;-)
I haven't visited here for sometime, but it is awfully fitting with what I just posted today. Hope you find it comforting.
